Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the previous five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the title advantage from Piastri by one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before sprint qualifying set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the championship fight, sitting 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, though minor, when he lost control at the fourth corner soon after starting.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before rotating through the gravel trap, and was fortunate to avoid just a minor contact of the fence.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the final moments of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed corner leading to the final bend on to the pit straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th place, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, over half a second off Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
